Paul Bourke is a technology consultant focusing on data visualization, computational photography and immersive environments. His application of visualization technologies includes such diverse fields as architecture, brain science, mathematics, astrophysics and more recently cultural heritage. He has consulted on and established a number of world class visualization facilities many of which included immersive displays based upon cylinders, hemispherical domes and virtual reality headsets. A particular research interest has been the development and application of novel and emerging data or image capture and display technologies. This involves displays that leverage the capabilities of the human visual system and how these may be used to facilitate insight in scientific research and increase engagement for public outreach and education.
